Just who are we?

The name "iSpeakK-9!" came from the fact that our founder can do exactly that, talk to dogs in a language they clearly understand. Let us teach you to speak K-9 as well...

Jennifer Westmoreland - Owner, Certified Animal Behaviorist, Trainer

Jenny has been training, showing, and breeding dogs for over 25 years. She has influenced several breeds, most notably Collies and Rottweilers, and has been active in many aspects of the dog world - not only conformation, but also obedience, protection, and herding, and she has a long list of titled dogs to show for it. She is educated in Certified Applied Behavioral Science and Experimental Psychology, but experience is what has given her the natural ability to communicate with the dogs on a level that is clearly understood by the animal. In her past, as a proven leading Trainer for a the largest Corporate pet company in the world, Jenny used her skills and her knowledge to train others in her methods, always encouraging young people to become pack leaders, and use body language to present yourself. Using many different training methods - positive reinforcement being at the top of the list, but understanding that each dog is an individual - she applies the appropriate method to give the dog every opportunity for a long, happy life with the right human. She is a Professional Premium Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT),

What truly sets Jenny's training apart, is that she is comfortable and confident in what she does. It is not really a learned method, as it is what comes naturally! Few people can really handle the dog in their own element, read the dog's body language and give you an enlightening picture into the dog's mind. Jenny can truly "speak K9", and she does it just as naturally as most people breath air or speak their native language.

"I am very blessed that God gave me a gift that I've been allowed to use to help the dogs that no one else can help. I don't abuse it and I don't get greedy. I was taught that looking into the eyes of the dog will help us forgive the ignorance of the human. That alone has help save many dogs from being put to sleep or being re-homed." Jennifer Westmoreland

Jenny is the BEST TRAINER ever - she is VERY knowledgeable and engaging with every dog that I have seen her interact with. I will NEVER leave my dog anywhere else. Love you Ms. Jenny Jennifer Westmoreland

I was going to have to re home my dog due to human aggression.  I called Jenny with many doubts that she would be able to help us but that was before I met her in person.  The minute I heard her voice on the phone, I had hope.  By the time we hung up, I was in tears with more hope. When we met her in person, she took the leash out of my hand and in a matter of minutes she had my dogs full attention.  What was amazing was the soft tone she used and the demonstration of a gifted person in their element!  She changed our lives and we will be forever grateful.

My dog was very dog aggressive and couldn't be taken out in public.  My wish for him was just to be able to be taken out for walks.  We called Jenny and she seemed a little unconcerned over the phone.  I had many people tell me to call her so even though the phone call didn't really make me feel better, I took him for an evaluation.  When I met her, I realized it wasn't that she wasn't concerned but that she was very confident in working with that problem.  I will never forget what she said  when I ask her if he could be helped.  She leaned back in her chair and said " He's a dog!  If he learned not to play with dogs, he can learn TO play with dogs.  It's YOU I need to train!"  She got up out of her chair and took him outside and put him in with 4 resident dogs.  Closed the gate and sat back down in her chair.  She looked at me and said "you better start breathing or we're gonna have a dog fight!"  I quickly started breathing fast and she said "I said breath, not hyperventilate!"    Long story short, that's just who she is.  Calm, outspoken, funny,  and very confident in what she does!  Thank you Jenny.  We will never thank you enough.

I was having a heck of a time with my 120 pound Cane Corso.  I paid 2 different trainers to get him under control.  Each time he was a little better but each time it soon faded.  I was told by a couple of pro football players that she had fixed their large breed dogs so I called for an appointment.  When I saw her the first thing I thought was this dog is gonna fly her like a kite!  Wrong.  She is fearless.  She watched him jump on me, drag me, mouth me, and growl at me.  She listened as I described his problems very intently.  The longer we sat there the worse he got.  I told her everything I could think of including the

$8000 I had already spent on training.  She said why didn't you call me to begin with?  I told her I was trying to find someone less expensive.  She said  " So  after you paid them, your gonna pay me and I have to fix everything they screwed up? "  I could hear her mumbling to my dog  as she walked away, "I will never understand humans, will you? "  She kept my dog for 3 weeks and gave me  back a large gentleman.  She brought him home, demonstrated all his new manners, showed me how to handle it, and told me not to mess him up.  This woman is so awesome to work with.  She never makes you feel stupid, she just strategically, points out our shortcomings with humor and a grin that won't let you be mad at her.  As a matter of fact, somehow it makes you come back for more.

Thanks to Jennifer at I Speak K-9, I now look like someone who knows how to own and handle a large breed dog.
